Jagjit Singh with his wife Chitra delivered a string of hits that are unparalleled in the composition and melody. In a career spanning five decades, he sang with his golden voice in different languages, which included the Sindhi, Nepal, Punjabi, Urdu and Gujarati.

Jagjit Singh was born in 1941 in Rajasthan. His father was a government employee.He begain his musical training in 1948. He trained under Pandit Chhaganlal Sharma, and later under Ustad Jamal Khan. In 1965 he came to Mumbai to start his career.
Jagjit Singh to undergo surgery after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He died October 10, 2011 at the age of 70 at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.
