Jeanne Eagels, 26 June 1890 to 3 October 1929, was an American actress on Broadway and in films. He was a former Ziegfeld Follies girl who went to even greater fame on Broadway and in the emerging medium of cinema sound. She was considered posthumously for Best Actress in 1929 for his role in the letter dies suddenly after the age of 39 This was the first posthumous Oscar consideration for any actor, male or female. However, according to the Academy's data base, Eagels was among several actresses "under consideration" by a board of judges, and was not actually formally nominated.
