ORACLE TEAM USA won the 34th America’s Cup

ORACLE TEAM USA won the 34th America’s Cup in a winner-take-all 19th race, defeating challenger Emirates Team New Zealand by 44 seconds in today’s clincher. Led by 35-year-old skipper Jimmy Spithill, ORACLE TEAM USA won by the score of 9-8.

After falling behind 8-1, the American team under never-say-die skipper Jimmy Spithill captured eight consecutive races to win 9-8 in the first-to-nine-wins series. Oracle won 11 races but was hit with a two-race penalty for cheating in a warm-up race with smaller boats.
